Not sure what to offer?
Start with what you can do.
You do not need to pick an online business model today. Leave this session with a skill, a reachable customer and one small test.
1. Map three useful tasks
Write three tasks you have actually completed at work, in a project or for someone else. For each, name the output, the tools you used and what you still cannot do reliably. Interest alone is not a sellable skill.
Fictional example: Maya has organized a volunteer event's bookings. Her repeatable task is cleaning a booking spreadsheet, not “business consulting”. She makes a synthetic before-and-after sample without exposing anyone's details.
2. Choose one reachable customer
Pick one group whose work you understand and can speak to with permission. Ask about the last time they did the task, what went wrong and what they use now. Do not send bulk unsolicited messages or invent their needs.
3. Make a tiny sample
Build a safe demonstration in 30–60 minutes with fictional or permissioned data. Let one willing person try it. Record what they used, what confused them and whether the problem recurs. Praise is not payment evidence.
4. Decide what happens next
- Cannot complete the task reliably? Practice the skill before selling it.
- Task useful but highly customized? Try a narrowly scoped service experiment in Fieldwork.
- Several people repeat the same task? Test a reusable digital resource with the free validation sprint.
Your deliverable
“I can complete [task] for [customer]. My sample is [output]. The evidence I still need is [observable behavior]. My next test is [small action].”
If you need income urgently, these experiments are not a replacement for employment assistance or a reliable immediate paycheck. Keep essential expenses protected; do not borrow to buy this material.
Protect your time and budget
Do not deposit money to unlock supposed task earnings, and avoid offers to pay for fake ratings or likes. See the FTC guide to task scams. Those warning signs are not a paid learning path.
