    Free lesson below
  2. Choose a program by fit, not the biggest number

Create a two-program comparison and an apply, wait, or decline decision grounded in current official terms.

  3. Write a useful comparison and make the connection visible

Produce an original comparison with traceable evidence, a clearly placed disclosure draft, and no invented hands-on claims.

  4. Publish one useful page and measure the right events

Prepare a permission-based publishing plan and an event log that keeps page visits, clicks, referrals, and approved commissions separate.

  5. Read the commission report without calling gross sales income

Calculate a clearly labeled commission scenario and write a continue, revise, wait, or stop decision using net amounts and evidence limits.

Start with a question worth answering

Write a reader decision map and a useful short guide without joining a program or buying a product.

Working steps for the first lesson
Original teaching diagram; illustrative examples.

Affiliate marketing means you may receive a commission when a merchant recognizes a qualifying referral. It does not make every click a sale, and it does not make the merchant's sales your income. Your first job is simpler: help a reader decide what, if anything, to buy.

Choose a question you understand from experience. Keep it narrow: Will my current phone stand work for filming my hands at a desk? is more useful than Best gear for creators. Write who is asking, what they already have, what they need to do, and what would rule out a purchase. Sometimes the best answer is keep what you own.

Make a decision map with three parts. Must have: requirements tied to the task. Nice to have: convenience, not necessity. Do not buy yet: an unresolved measurement, missing prerequisite, or an adequate current solution. Only call something tested if you actually used it. Label manufacturer specifications as specifications, not your own observations. You can write an honest pre-purchase checklist without owning every product.

Now write a short answer that works without a link. Explain one check the reader can perform, what the result means, and what remains unknown. Do not copy a retailer's review, borrow customer photos, or invent a personal test. This first lesson needs no paid tool or affiliate membership. Save the map and answer; you will use them in the next exercise.

Worked example

Fictional worked example — Nora wants to help adults who film simple desk demonstrations on a phone. Her map reads: Reader, a solo maker filming their hands; Task, keep the phone positioned while showing a small object; Already owned, a basic stand; Must have, a usable view of the working area and a stand that suits the actual phone; Nice to have, folding for travel; Do not buy yet, current stand already gives the needed view; Unknown, fit and available desk space for an untested model.

Her completed practice answer: Before buying a new phone stand, record ten seconds of the work you want to show using the stand you already own. Check whether the object stays in frame and whether your hands block the important step. Measure the space available beside your work area. If the view works and the stand meets its manufacturer's requirements, keep it. If it does not, note the exact problem before comparing alternatives: height, angle, footprint, or phone fit. I have not tested the two new models in this practice comparison, so their published dimensions would need checking. Folding is useful for travel, but it will not solve every desk-angle problem. A larger stand is not automatically the right answer. If you mainly record at one desk, focus on the view you need there rather than travel features. Keep your measurements beside any later comparison.

No merchant link, commission, product test, or real customer result is claimed.

Your exercise

1. Choose one everyday product decision you can responsibly explain. Avoid medical, investment, or other specialized advice outside your competence.
2. Write Reader, Task, Already owned, Must have, Nice to have, Do not buy yet, and Unknown. Name one practical check, such as measuring available desk space.
3. Write a 120–200 word answer using that map. Include a no-purchase option. If you have not tested a product, say so rather than filling the gap with imagined experience.
4. Mark each factual statement Personal observation, Official specification, or Unknown; add a source and date where relevant.
5. Read the answer aloud. Replace a vague word such as premium with the actual property that matters.
6. Save the map and answer. Do not join a program, purchase equipment, or publish an affiliate link to finish this exercise.

Your finished work

A one-page reader decision map and a 120–200 word original answer that includes an honest no-purchase option.

Check your work

  • The question belongs to a specific reader and task.
  • Must-have requirements are separated from nice-to-have features.
  • The answer is useful without an affiliate link.
  • A no-purchase option is present.
  • Personal use, specifications, and unknowns are not confused.
  • No membership, purchase, paid tool, or invented test is needed to complete the work.

Tools and requirements

  • Age 18 or older.
  • A task or product category you can explain honestly, without pretending to have tested something.
  • An existing browser and a place to write; no paid course, domain, ad spend, or API is required for the exercises.
  • Current permission under the actual program's terms to use affiliate links on the chosen channel, only if you later publish them. Record applied/provisional access separately from final approval; neither is required to finish this lab. Otherwise retain an honest draft.

The exercises need a browser and somewhere to write. Publishing and affiliate eligibility depend on the channel and the actual program.
